Fatback Band – Live in Concert
Sunday 28th August 2016

Fatback band live UK Concert Campsoul 2016

The Fatback Band is one of the most acclaimed Disco, Soul and Funk groups to have ever emerged from America. They are pioneers of Dance, Funk, Soul, Rap and R’n’B , the originators of the New York sound that has influenced so many, with a career loaded with 35 albums worth of anthems.

Formed in 1970 in New York City, The Fatback Band was the concept of Bill Curtis, an experienced drummer, inspired to merge the “fatback jazz beat” with a touch of West Indie & Caribbean beat into a funky groove. That was the basis of the first disco beat.

Hugely influential and still playing live shows that blow audiences away, they have had countless hits, have served up many club anthems and have been to the White House, as well as having their music featured on cult TV shows like The Sopranos and Sky TV UK’s Revisita de la Liga show. The group has played all over the world, at places like the Lincoln Centre, Southport Weekender, WOMAD in Reading & Spain, London’s Jazz Cafe, The Baltic Soul Weekender, Marbella Jazz Festival, and Glastonbury.

The Fatback Band makes funky, orchestral soul music built for the live party circuit. Piloted by legendary bandleader Bill “Fatback” Curtis (percussion) and reinforced by Ledjerick Todd Woods (trumpet), Ed Jackson (saxophone), Cordell “Pete” Everett (bass, vocals), Darryl McAllister (guitar) and Lynell Muldrow (drums), the group’s high-energy songs and live performances are raw, earthy and explosive, showcasing members’ improvisational skills and musicianship. Poetic lyrics are bolstered by an infectious groove that pumps blood through the heart of the Fatback Band and brings fans their feet.

Fatback is the last of the great dance and entertaining bands, and celebrates the fact that before DJ’s existed, it was them who were making people dance, a skill they entertain to this day.

New Street Adventure Live In Concert
Saturday 27th August 2016

New Street Adventure band

Following the success of their critically acclaimed debut, “No Hard Feelings”, which earned praise from the likes of Tim Jonze (The Guardian), Paul Moody (Q Magazine) and Craig Charles (BBC 6 Music), New Street Adventure are back in the studio working on their follow-up.

2015 saw the Londoners take their…explosive live show around the country, gracing venues such as Camden’s Jazz Cafe and Manchester’s legendary Band on the Wall, rounding off the summer with a highly-rated performance at the distinguished Mostly Jazz, Funk & Soul festival in Birmingham.

The year ended in style with a packed-out show at 229 Great Portland St and a surprise set at Clapham Grand, supporting Acid Jazz royalty, Brand New Heavies.

2016 looks set to be New Street’s busiest year yet. Having just announced six dates with The Rifles in February/March, the band are also preparing for a two-week European tour in April and their own headline tour of the UK in May and June, with album two due for an autumn release”
