Gary Spence is just not a DJ, he is a Radio personality.
Super Gary Spence, like many started his Disc Jockey career on hospital Radio, before reaching a more Soulful audience with Horizon, then a monthly show on SoulChoonz which streamed to over a million listeners.
Gary has now been on Solar Radio for over 15 years, on Mondays he hosts, the ‘Sweet Rhythms Soul’ chart that is believed to be one of the more accurate soul charts for newly released soul music. Thursday afternoons on Solar Radio, Gary hosts his popular, ‘Afternoon Delight’ show that reaches large audiences via Sky and the internet. Expect superstars and celebrates to drop in via the phone or indeed with an interview, Gary has interviewed such legends as, Teena Marie, Lisa Stansfield, Shirley & Brenda Jones of The Jones Girls, Charlie Wilson, Melba Moore, Gina Carey, Kathy Sledge, Earl Young the legendary Philadelphia drummer who is also the leader of his own Disco group, The Trammps.
Elaine Constantine who is the director of the movie, ‘Northern Soul’ said “Gary Spence was so fantastic, loved speaking to him. My best interview yet!” The interview is now going to be featured on a audio cdr report to be sent to over 100 big wigs in the music and film industry as a promotion tool for the film.
Gary is now expanding his repertoire by doing live gigs like the recent warm up for the Dogget Brothers at The Jazz Cafe. He has also been booked for a series of big gigs that will see him visiting other parts of the world that will be announced shortly. Gary is a regular spinner on board the Solar Radio Boat trips which soulfully cruise the river Thames.
