About Campsoul Music Festival
How The Campsoul Music Festival Began
Campsoul Music Festival was born out of a bit of banter in my radio show chatroom in the winter months of 2010. A few of us were talking about camping and maybe finding a field where we could play a few tunes without upsetting anyone living or camping nearby 🙂
What normally leads to just beer talk became reality when a friend of mine said she knew somewhere on a private estate that might be ideal. After a chat with the landowner he agreed to let us camp and play a few tunes as it really was in the middle of nowhere. A small marquee and a curtain trailer as a stage and some mobile toilets, we were off and running.
- Year 1 (2011) We estimated about 70-100 people may brave it and camp, but we ended up with 175 people having a fab weekend. Taking place over the August Bank Holiday weekend it is an ideal holiday break for all the family.
- Year 2 (2012) saw The Drizabone Soul Family perform live for us and the numbers growing to over 300.
- Year 3 (2013) went up another level with Light Of The World and USA Legend Lonnie Liston Smith and The New Cosmic Echoes live on our new main stage.
- Year 4 (2014) We bought you Jazz-Funk legend Roy Ayers, The Haggis Horns, B-Funkt and SouLutions all Live in concert.
- Year 5 (2015) We bought you Roy Ayers, Tom Brown Live in Concert, Light of the World All live in concert
We have been lucky to have had a wonderful set of DJs playing some fantastic music over the years 🙂
Look out for Campsoul 2015 taking place on Saturday & Sunday over the August Bank Holiday weekend!! It’s a real family affair with more and more kids coming every year!
