Jamie Taylor
DJ Profile Biography
Jamie started out as a DJ in his Mum’s pub at the age of 12 and very quickly developed a passion for Soul / Black music. Most of his pocket money was spent on building his vinyl collection and from the early 80’s was a regular customer at Groove Records in London.
The 80’s & 90’s was spent DJing at local residencies in and around the Midlands, presenting a hospital radio show, organising Soul All-Dayers, House Nights & generally educating the uneducated in the area of Black music. Along his way he has had the pleasure of playing alongside his DJ hero Simon Dunmore (Defected Records).
The 2000’s saw him DJing on the London Soul Cruise and various Soul events before moving on to present ‘Dancefloor Grooves’ on Banbury Internet Radio and later on Soulpower Radio.
These days he prefers to sit back and enjoy himself from the other side of the decks and only play at events close to his heart, Campsoul being one of those he is honoured to be involved with again this year.
In recent times he has left the vinyl/CD format behind and entered the world of digital (not bad for an old boy) and releases a monthly mix of Soulful, Deep and Jazzy House grooves which can be found at www.dancefloorgrooves.co.uk
