DJ Profile Biography

DJ Stretch Taylor is a club & radio DJ, journalist, remixer & promoter with over 20 years experience.
He currently presents the Ghetto Heaven Show on Mi-Soul Radio on Tuesdays 9pm-11pm & Thursdays 8am-10am, and is also a regular DJ on Stomp Radio. Stretch has previously been on the airwaves on other stations including Colourful Radio, Soul24-7, Flames FM & Essex FM.

Over the last 5 years he has interviewed over 100 artists on his show including the late Teena Marie, Roy Ayers, Leon Ware, Melba Moore, Teddy Riley & Blackstreet, Guy, Charlie Wilson, Eric Benet, Leroy Burgess, Jazzy Jeff, Guru & Beverley Knight.

Commercial highlights of his career include making the official mix CD for Missy Elliott’s multi-platinum selling album ‘Miss E So Addictive’ for Warner Bros and being the DJ for Pharrell Williams’ & Snoop Doggs’ photographic exhibition in London.

He’s been a DJ at high profile events at Pacha & Privilege in Ibiza, Ministry Of Sound, TwiceAsNice, MOBO Awards afterparty, Cookies&Cream, Cafe De Paris & Notting Hill Carnival, plus abroad in Ayia Napa, Dubai, Greece & Spain.

Stretch is a regular fixture at events at both the O2 Millennium Dome & Jazz Cafe, and has been booked to DJ at many concerts over the years including Blackstreet, Shalamar, En Vogue, Archie Bell & The Drells, Steve Arrington, Leroy Hutson, Joyce Sims, Rahsaan Patterson, Mica Paris, Lalah Hathaway & Kindred The Family Soul, and has also deejayed at album launch events for Usher, Kelis, Faith Evans, Beenie Man & Wu-Tang Clan.

Stretch is a mainstay on the soul music circuit, having played at the Southport Weekender, Bournemouth Soul Weekender, Soul Village Weekender, Salou Soul Weekender in Spain, Caister Soul Weekender, Hayling Island Weekender, TMF Festival & Clacton Soul Weekender.

He has worked on many remixes & productions, including co-producing the R&B hit ‘Now That Were Together’ for Vicki Young on Dome Records and remixes for Kool G Rap and DJ Muggs from Cypress Hill. A decade ago he worked for East West/Atlantic/Warner Music, helping promote the international artists on their roster such as Sean Paul, Missy Elliott, Brandy, Fat Joe & Tweet. During his time there he mixed & produced the ‘Urban Flavas’ mix compilation album for Warner Music.

He’s been co-promoting the legendary ‘Boating Club’ soul cruises since 1995 and was a music journalist for soul music bible Blues&Soul Magazine for over 10 years compiling the Floorfillers Chart & a club column.

Stretch is also involved with charity events, promoting and DJ’ing at numerous gigs to raise money for good causes.

Music is in the blood and Stretch’s father was lead singer of a successful band called The Gentry who supported legendary supergroup The Who on tour in the swinging 60′s.
